Jonathan Moss is no stranger to ministry. In fact, that’s exactly what he was doing when he first learned about Grace Conway. “My friend Sean and I had been working together for a couple years to help the homeless downtown. One night Sean pulled me aside to tell me about a church plant that God was calling him to join. Sean told me a few details about the church and that they would begin meeting in September at Conway Elementary. But he didn’t stop there. He then shared his vision of me joining him and the team to help launch this new church. I thought he was crazy!” But what Jonathan didn’t know is that God was about to guide his next steps right to the middle of Grace’s ministry.
“I couldn’t get the idea of this new church off my mind. And the very next day, out of nowhere, I received a call that left me speechless. I had been working as a teacher at a local school for a few years, yet was specifically contacted by another that wanted me to consider employment with them. And of all the schools and of all the teachers, Conway Elementary wanted me.” Jonathan knew it was no accident that Sean shared with him about this new church and the work He believed God was going to do through it. He also knew this opportunity given to him less than 24 hours later, to teach in the school where Grace would meet, wasn’t either. “It was a total Jesus thing and I was thrilled to be a part of the story.”
But it was no easy move for Jonathan. He had spent the last several years at another church doing what he does best, pouring his life into a group of students. Being a part of Grace would require him to leave this growing, stable ministry and jump head first into the unknown waters of church planting. “I prayed that God would use my obedience for His glory and that He would somehow use me to make a difference at both Conway Elementary, where I had accepted a position to teach, and at Grace.”
Since becoming a part of Grace Jonathan has been involved in almost every facet of ministry possible! But his favorite place to serve is as Director of graceSTUDENTS. In that position he is able to do what he loves most, impact students for Jesus. “Seeing Christ transform kids lives is one my greatest passions. It is a privilege to lead and serve such awesome teenagers and be able to have an active role in them taking their next step toward Christ.”
There is no question that God led Jonathan to Grace. And although it’s been quite a change, Jonathan is still where he’s always been, right in the middle of ministry.
